Guinea Pigs and Beta Tests

As we embark on our 4th year in business, having just celebrated our 3rd anniversary, we look upon 2019 with great optimism. We’ve come so far, but we still have a long way to go. This is very much reflected by your feedback regarding recent cellular tower inspection beta testing. At times we find ourselves asking, is it even worth it?! I think we can all agree Beta Testing automated software and other workflows, applications, and use cases for aerial data collection is a double-edged sword. It doesn’t typically come with large financial gain in the short term. It comes with hiccups, challenges, problem-solving, extra effort, and lots of apologies. I’m here to remind us all this is all about the LONG TERM! The headaches will subside. The rework will be forgotten. We still have a long way to go on so many fronts with this business! DroneHive will continue to engage in opportunities where we and our pilot community are the guinea pigs. The pay may be low. However, the exposure, experience, and education are invaluable. If we don’t participate in the testing and development, someone else will! When the issues are solved, we will be first in line for the well paying work that comes at the light at the end of the tunnel. Sometimes…we won’t reach the light. But that’s OK. We are working to support our partners, our community, and our industry’s improvement and maturity. Automated cell tower inspection is just one of the mission types we’re helping improve. We’re seeing lots of positive advancement on so many mission types. Continued success will lead to scale, bringing us all more work and income. We appreciate your support and participation with us along this journey as we forge ahead in this brave new industry. We still have a long way to go!
